UNISON has 1,200 branches in the UK. A branch is made up of all its members. Some members are elected by their workforce to play different roles, including our list of Branch Officers below:

Branch Chair: Karen Thomas – Facilitates Branch and committee meetings

Assistant Branch Chair: Vacant at present – Assists the Branch Chair in branch and committee meetings.

Branch Secretary: Vacant at present.

Branch Treasurer: Lesley Discombe – Responsible for managing Branch finances.

Equalities Officers: Karen Thomas – Leads on equal rights issues including sex, race, disability and lesbian and gay issues.

Branch Education Co-ordinator: Vacant at present. A postholder would help arrange training courses and education programmes for members, stewards, health and safety reps and Branch officers.  Contact the Branch Officer for info on UNISON training.

Welfare Officer: Lesley Discombe – Assist members in making welfare claims & campaign around branch welfare issues.

Membership Officer: Vacant at present. Branch staff deal with membership queries but a Membership Officer would be involved in recruitment and organising.

Branch Pension Contact: Alan Henshaw – Leads on Pension campaigning and branch pension issues

Branch Auditors: Alan Henshaw & Sian Rees

Schools Convenor: Vacant at present. A postholder would assist Branch activists in schools with organisation and case work.

Young Members Officer: Vacant at present. A postholder would help recruit and organise young members.

Branch Communications Officer: Vacant at present. A postholder would co-ordinate Branch newsletters, websites and other media.

Health & Safety Officer: Vacant at present. A postholder would campaigns around Health & Safety issues for the Branch

APF Political Officer: Vacant at present. A postholder would liaise with the local Labour Party and members who pay the APF levy.

Branch International Officers: Vacant at present. A postholder would lead on international solidarity activities.

Retired Members Officer: Vacant at present. A postholder would organise a local UNISON retired members group.
